Just to wish you all a very sunny weekend. It's beautiful here & we plan on making the most of the lovely weather! What are you going to do? We're kicking it off with a birthday meal with our best friends & hoping to wangle a BBq in there somewhere. Whatever you do - Enjoy! (& don't forget the clocks go forward!)

Wet weekender.
Sooooo….it appears that I took a little vacation on the blog front! Sorry all, I’m sure you’ve been oh so worried haha!! I seem to have been really busy doing nothing much lately.
Just had a lovely weekend, weather was duff & drizzly but we met up with some old friends from Uni and had a good catch up & a lovely lunch. Followed by a wander round an end of line furniture place. We’re re jigging the dining room and want a tall bookcase type thing that doesn’t cost £500!! We found exactly what we wanted within 1 minute of getting inside so I think we’re going back after payday to purchase!
I felt a bit rubbish though and had got cold & wet walking back to the car so as soon as we got in I had a hot bath & warm pj’s, all before 5pm! I am rock & roll. You’d think I was 86 not 26! I got to choose the film & Tom cooked tea!! Expert tuna mayo jacket with salad J
Sunday was a getting up slowly day(Always enjoyable!) & coffee with more lovelies at Franks before coming home to welcome the parentals over for Mother’s Day. I love it when they come up as it’s such a rarity! Indian enjoyed by all! I wanted an extremely naughty Tikka Masala (22 Syns) but I was good and had Rogan Josh (6 Syns) & it was very lovely! Tikka Masala would have been more syns than I am allowed in a whole day. Glad I steered clear.
All that talk of lunches & Indian takeaways brings me sharply round to diet!! This weekend has seemed to be a lot of eating. Although good choices were made, I was starting to panic about Tuesdays weigh in. I mentioned it to Tom & we decided that there are going to be weekends like this once in a while & that it’s just normal life. Every weekend will not be the same & as long as we get straight back on the diet then all is well! I have lost 2st 5lbs now since Jan and am just keeping going. Slimming world seems to have suited us both perfectly and I am really enjoying cooking properly again every night. Still haven't had that elusive Chinese meal but I have been promised it when I hit 3 stone off!! Is it a little screwy to reward weightloss with a calorific meal?! I'll ponder that for a while!
One Thing I Know For Sure: If I’ve only lost a lb. tomorrow night, then it was worth it as I got to spend quality time with people very special to me.

Thoughts on a Thursday.
So today we had a BBQ. A lush one at that. I know it's February but 16 degrees is June weather round here and if you happen to know my dad he's probably moaning that today was our summer and it's all down hill from here, so we took the opportunity and put another shrimp on the barbie!
Our bbq was sooo tasty. Diet friendly too before I get moaned at!
The diet is going well (so well it's weirding me out!) 24lbs off in 7 weeks for each of us now, which we are both really happy with! It has made giving something up for lent somewhat harder though. Chocolate, crisps, takeaways & anything else lovely have already been banished for the diet so I have really had to think hard about something that I should ditch. I have decided (after much deliberation, hence I am 2 days late on starting!) that I will not do any shopping other than food shopping till Lent is over. I am scared already! Which means it was probably a good thing to pick. I am by no means a shopaholic, lets be honest, when you're this overweight clothes shopping can only be an horrific experience so clothes aren't really an issue but I do spend unnecessary money on 'bits'. Seemingly alot of the odd coffee here, magazine, cushion, jewellery, nothing overly expensive but that all adds up. I'll keep you posted.
One Thing I Know For Sure: I am looking forward to a skinnier summer :)
Embers :)
Just the smell of the charcoal embers were enough to hint that spring is round the corner. I am such a winter lover, snow, frost, Christmas, I just LOVE it all but more and more each year I am looking forward to the spring springing and being able to get outside without the fear of breaking your leg before you've even made it to work!

Love how blinded Tom is by my unnecessary use of the flash.

Wholesome.
So I said last week I’d be taking (dragging….) Tom to a tea shop and that I did on Sunday. Was a beaut of a day in sunny Norwich, all be it very cold! We had a little wander through the cobbled lanes and stopped at Ye Olde Sweet Shop on London Street. Wow! If I had ever wished I wasn’t on a diet, it was right about then!! Shelf after shelf after old wooden shelf of sweets from my childhood. Now I am not really a chocolate fan, I like it but I don’t seem to have that female obsession with it, whereas jelly sweets, jelly beans, pick & mix and penny sweets are right up my street and this shop has it all and then some. How I walked out empty handed I will never know.
Anyway off we trot in the sunshine & a very Baltic feeling head wind to Wholesome on Swan Lane.
I have wanted to visit here in ages after I popped in once for a takeaway soup which was delish but they have a teeny cafĂ© upstairs and I wanted to trial a sandwich or a wedge of cake & we were also in need of a hot mug of something too! However…….It’s Sunday, Wholesome is shut on a Sunday! What a fab start to the tea shop trialling!! Not. Wholesome we will be back..…just not on a Sunday. Sob.
I won’t write much as I will do a proper post about Franks soon. But their Coffee is fab. I am by no means a coffee connoisseur, infact till about 4 years ago I detested the stuff and when I first heard people talk about a ‘crema’ on an espresso I assumed someone had gone a little over the top with the can of squirty stuff! Anyway, Franks have nice mugs, the coffee is hot (I HATE a luke warm latte!) & my cappuccino had a lot of froth.
I’ll be honest I am swayed by a lot of froth.
Tom’s Americano looked lush too.
We were going to have a little something for lunch but again I had forgotten that it was Sunday & Sunday means the breakfast menu runs all day. As lovely as it all looked, I didn’t need scrambled egg for a second time in one day. I will definitely be going back for the pancakes though :)
The diet is going well, no slip ups at all this week. 7th Weigh in tomorrow and I am hoping for 2lbs off so I can get my next half stone award. Can’t really believe I am going into week 8 & still ‘on the wagon’, I don’t stick to diets. I lose 2 stone, realise how much happier I am just to get that amount of weight off and then celebrate my happiness with a lovely meal out somewhere!! Not this time. I am in this for the long haul. Skinny Minny 2012 here I come.
One Thing I Know For Sure: If they’d have taken card*, I’d have had every sherbet fountain that sweetshop had.
Big Love x
*They did take card, but Tom kindly didn’t tell me till after we had left.

Pretties...
I have made a few changes to the look of the Blog! I'm liking so far - there's so much to learn though! I bet there's blog etiquette that I am breaking at every turn!
Have a fab weekend all.
One Thing I Know For Sure: I'm dragging Tom to a tea shop this weekend! (He heard it here first!)

Welcome Welcome :)
I have always wanted to write a blog but always thought that you needed something interesting as a base point to actually blog about! Anyway, I decided I might never be interesting enough to have a blog so I might aswell just go for it! I'm hoping it will be an enjoyable experience for both of us. Feel free to stop reading or give me a whack if it ever gets tediously boring though!!
I think I'll just use it to write my random musings re eating out and getting slim! (Surely they can't go together!) The fact of the matter is I am overweight! Have been for a longtime. Though the title states "eating Mezze/cake/Tapas makes me happy", being overweight, uncomfortable and unhealthy does not, so I am attempting for the hundreth time to lose it, for good this time. So I started Slimming World on Jan 3rd 2012 and to date (6 weeks later) I have lost 1st 8.5lbs. Zing - Something seems to be working!
Alongside telling you how hard I am finding it to avoid Chinese takeaways, I am going to be making a point of sampling Norwich's finer little independent cafes and eateries as eating out is something I love to do the most. I'm hoping to have some lovely coffees, cakes, chats and meals along the way. Let me know if you want to join me on one of my expeditions to find yummy food, I'd love to share it with lots of my lovely friends.
One Thing I Know For Sure: I am looking forward to eating cake! (be good to me scales!)

P.s I will also attempt to use my camera more (New Years resolution) and post lots of pics of Lush food and and my hopefully dwindling figure!
